Angels Day out.

 

Angel the other morning sat on the window sill looking at me as if to say please take me out.

 

Here we went.

In 1999 then first lady Hillary Clinton Had a tree in the white house decorated with Dolls.

Charles Lindberg — The artist made this doll in honor of our national aviation hero.

Dolley Madison — Exquisite and elegant Dolley Madison dressed in china silk and antique lace.

Susan B. Anthony — In honor of this great advocate of the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution in 1923 giving women the right to vote. (In her handbag is a Susan B. Anthony dollar coin.)

This same idea can be used in our own homes using small dolls.

My Basil is growing finally on my porch…….

I have been  growing herbs for years here in Arizona.

 

 

 

 

I moved to this new Apartment in March and it seems I need to start fresh in how to grow herbs.

Herb are great for cooking they have many medicinal purposes. there is even indicator that herbs combat HIV infection. (No it don’t have HIV).

I just grow herbs on my window sills and porch  for the flavor in food preparation. I try my hand at dill these are not mine

Rain at last

This afternoon the clouds grew dark As they have so many times this year.

 

We expected the day to go the same as every other this monsoon. An then…

…We saw it. Rain! it was dampening the parking lot dripped from the trees.

 

 

 

 

 

I had to run outside to take pictures of it! It was wondrous. Such a little thing like rain to be so exiting.

And then it stopped leaving these beautiful clouds in its wake.

But no rain came. No rain.

Back East floods are happening all over from excess rain do to major storm systems going though.

But out monsoon is fizzling.

The Hex Signs

In my online stores I have several jewelry pieces that are enamel with Hex signs decorating them.

These were designed by Fredrick Hoffman. The subject matter is the Hex sign. these signs are seen allover rural Southeastern Pennsylvania. Mostly on Barns and signs advertising the Pennsylvania Dutch communities.

All of these Signs are Amulets of sorts, I was told  that they are prayers on wood.  They have also been identified with the Rossete windows on the great churches of Europe.

Jacob Zook was the Founder of a internationally recognized store selling Hex signs.

this sign is one example of the Double Distlefink it is said to bring luck.

Another sign “the Rain Sign” to some is infamous. Hexology  a book About Hex sign history (1962 by Jacob and Jane Zook Qoits aProf Ott a sign Artist as telling how 1955 he gave a Rain sign to a friend wjo forgot to take it down after enough rain and caused a major flood of the Delaware river with 5 million dollars damage.

Another story I've heard blames this sign for the Johnstown flood that was a major flood that killed 2200 people in 1889.

No wonder I have not found any pictures of this infamous sign.
